Cambridge/AICE Program
We at West Broward High are so excited to be a Cambridge International School! Our Cambridge Academy students partake in a college preparatory program that opens doors to competitive post-secondary institutions, invites scholarship opportunities and adds prestige to all of their future endeavors!!
Computer Science
West Broward High helps students get ready for today’s tech-driven world with a strong Computer Science program. The first course covers problem-solving, algorithm design, and data structures while exploring the ethical and social sides of technology. Students can move on to advanced classes like AP Computer Science, AP Computer Science Principles, and AP Cybersecurity to earn potential college credit. Along the way, they can earn certifications such as ITS HTML/CSS, ITS Python, ITS Java, and CompTIA Security+, building valuable tech and coding skills.
Culinary Arts
The Culinary Arts program teaches students the skills and knowledge needed for careers in cooking and hospitality. Students learn about kitchen safety, sanitation, nutrition, equipment use, baking, menu planning, and cost control. The program includes hands-on lab experience where students practice real cooking techniques and recipes. They also have the opportunity to earn industry certifications through ServSafe, which helps prepare them for jobs in restaurants, catering, or hospitality management. It’s a great start for anyone passionate about food and culinary arts.
Digital Design
The Digital Design program helps students build creative and technical skills for careers in graphic design, digital illustration, and multimedia production. Through hands-on projects, students learn to design visuals, edit media, and create professional presentations that meet industry standards. The program prepares students for jobs like Graphic Designer, Multimedia Designer, or IT Assistant, as well as for college-level studies. Students can also earn certifications in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Illustrator, and Project Management Institute (PMI) to boost their career readiness.
Early Childhood
The Early Childhood program lets high school students get real experience working with preschoolers in an on-campus learning center. Students learn how young children grow, learn, and develop while practicing teaching and childcare skills. This program helps prepare students for careers in education or childcare and builds a strong foundation for college. Participants can also earn college credit or a national Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, giving them a head start toward future goals in the early childhood education field.
First Responder
The Emergency Medical Responder program at West Broward High is a hands-on, challenging program that helps students build skills for medical careers. After earning three course credits, students can take certification exams such as Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA), Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), and Certified EKG Technician (CET). Selected seniors can also join the EMT course taught by a Barry University instructor and paramedic, gaining real experience through externships and ambulance ride-alongs with Broward County Fire Rescue.
Pathways to Engineering
In the Pathways to Engineering program, students build their technical and engineering skills through fun, hands-on projects and field trips. They learn about the physics and mechanics behind rollercoasters, vehicles, robots, and rockets. This experience boosts confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills, helping students succeed in high school, college, and future careers. Students can also earn service hours and compete in exciting events like SkillsUSA, VEX Robotics, Broward Student Technology Association, and Plywood Regatta while working on real-world engineering challenges.
Sport, Rec & Entertainment Marketing
This program gives students a strong start in sport, recreation, and entertainment marketing and sales. It includes hands-on courses in selling, public relations, event planning, licensing, sponsorships, and endorsements. Students build important technical, academic, and workplace skills to prepare for college or a career in the industry. Along the way, they can also earn valuable certifications, including Entrepreneurship and Small Business and Project Management Institute (PMI) credentials, helping them stand out and succeed in future business and marketing opportunities.
TV Production Program & WBTV Club
The TV Production program at West Broward High School gives students real experience in video production, broadcasting, and filmmaking. Using professional cameras and editing software, students create news shows, short films, and skits while preparing for college and future careers. They compete and win awards at events like AAHSFF, STN, FSPA, and the Suncoast Emmys. Students can earn certifications in Adobe programs and project management. WBTV Club is open to everyone and helps students build teamwork, creativity, and leadership through school broadcasts and special projects.
Veterinary Assisting
West Broward High School (WBHS) offers a three-year, five-course Veterinary Assistant Program where students get hands-on experience working with animals. The program prepares students to become certified Veterinary Assistants after passing the certification exam. Students work daily with dogs in the school’s doggie daycare and also get the chance to work with horses and cats through school events and field trips. This program is perfect for animal lovers who want real-world experience in veterinary care and a head start on a future career.
